Notify the Pulitzer committee

Big news Barguments Blog readers. The New York Post interviewed me last night for a story they're preparing on Barguments.

Entertainment Writer Mandy Stadtmiller headed out with the book to Manhattan and Brooklyn, and posed some of the barguments to actual New Yorkers. A tough crowd, to be sure. I'm nervous to read about their reaction. Hopefully, the Post can't print obscenities.

As a result, I will be preparing a special Bargument EXCLUSIVELY for New York Post readers. Not sure what that will be yet. Please provide suggestions.

Maybe a dare involving street vendors? (Would you rather chop off three fingers or have your liquid intake limited to the cooking water from a New York hot dog stand ?) Anyway, send possibilities my way and watch this space for updates.

Hi Doug.

My wife and I did one of the interviews this weekend at a place called "Freddy's" in Brooklyn. We didn't like the topic the reporter picked and she wouldn't let us pick another, a bit annoying. It was still a fairly fun exercise though. The Post is probably going to have a lot of good quotes, if not good things to say about the book.

Hmm. Not good. Don't like that a bargument wasn't met with instant glee.
I hope the reporter didn't start this too early in the evening. Some barguments often require several rounds before they can be fully appreciated.
Still, Anonymous and Spouse, thanks for participating. And any bar with a name like "Freddy's'' is a place that should have a copy of Barguments. I'll see if I can track down an address and get them one when it comes out.

Well, whether we had instant glee or not, you're still getting some sweet press! We made the cut, so I guess this isn't really anonymous any more, oh well.

Freddy's is a beautiful, classic bar, certainly deserving of a copy- but alas, they're slated for demolition due to the Atlantic Yards stadium project. Not sure if you follow Brooklyn life/politics much, but the gist of it is that the bar (and a lot of other stuff) is likely doomed in the next year...

Ben --

Even as reluctant barguers, your comments were hilarious. Well done!
